Fall 2004 Math 84 ARITHMETIC REVIEW AND PRE-ALGEBRA Instructor: Dan Hurley Prerequisite: Advisory: Math 81 Textbook: Text: Prealgebra, by T. Green and J. Kennedy Grading: Homework and attendance 5% Exams 45% Final Exam 50% Grading Scale: A>=90%, B>=80%, C>=70%, D>=60% Homework will be collected at each exam. Exams: There will be 4 exams and 1 final exam. There are no make-up exams. Dropping scores: The lowest of the first 4 exam scores will be dropped. Final Exam: Tuesday, December 14, 2004 3:30 pm-6:30 pm Drop Policy Attendance: at most 4 absences. Calculator: No calculators are allowed on exams. Attendance: Attendance at all classes is required. You are responsible for lecture material and announcements given during classes. Last Day to drop this class is the end of 8th week. Math Lab: Math Lab is located at MC84. Math 31 are required to spend an average of 1 hour per week in the Math Lab. I receive a printout showing what students have done. It is department policy that students must complete the 15-16 hour Math Lab requirement for the semester in order to earn a grade of C or better. Study Advice: Practice solving problems without ANY help, without text, without notes.
