threaded discussion at ecollege is for communication with your classmates and me
in this class. I
will respond to your questions there within 24 hours. For correspondence of a
personal nature, use the email system within ecollege.
Note that you will be dropped
from the class if you do not turn in any homework by the end of the
2nd week.

course you may use the internet to find answers to any questions
that you are not able to find in the book.

The final for Discovering Computers needs to be finished before the end of the course.
Although you may take it anytime before the end of next week, you may want to finish a few days early since many times a student will try to take the exam
and have technical difficulties or not get around to it until after
the last day of class. By giving an early target, it eliminates
shutting such people out and giving them an F or a D after they have
performed well in all other respects.

watch the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey

Focus on the second part of the movie (parts 5 through 11 on youtube) entitled the Jupiter Mission.
It starts approximately one hour into the movie, comes after the moon scene, and
is about one hour in duration. You may, of course, watch the entire movie
which has interesting philosophic implications about the origin and destiny of
humans. The Jupiter Mission portion which we are focusing on deals with
artificial intelligence.
